Getting your home ready to sell, starting at the front door

Buyers make up their mind in the first few seconds. Here's what to do before we film your tour.

Every Doorstep tour starts on the step, so that's where we start too. A fresh coat of paint on the door, a clean doormat and a pot plant either side does more for a first impression than almost anything inside.

Inside, clear the kitchen worktops, open every curtain and fix the small things: the dripping tap, the loose handle, the bulb that went last winter. Buyers notice them, and they make a house feel less looked after than it is.

Then pick a sunny morning for filming. We'll walk the route with you first so every room is ready when the camera comes through.
